VERBOS MODALES FORMA NEGATIVA(ingles)

. Verbos modales – forma negativa

Objetivo: emplear con propiedad los verbos modales para incluirlos adecuadamente dentro de los textos que traducen y construyen, adoptando así la habilidad de brindar y recibir información sobre su entorno.

Pedro	no  debería	comer	caramelos.
Pedro	should   not	eat	candies.

Usted	no debería	trabajar	en esa oficina.
You	should   not	work	in that office.
(iu	shud    not	uork	in da ofis).
Los niños	no deben	jugar	con pistolas.
Children	must  not	play	with guns.
Nosotros	no podríamos	pagar	esa cuenta.
We	could   not	pay	that bill.

§      El verbo modal OUGHT TO, la palabra “not” se coloca en medio, es decir, OUGHT NOT TO, sin embargo, este verbo no es usual en forma negativa, es preferible utilizar SHOULDN’T.

ü  We ought not to order so much food.

ü  We should not order so much food.

§      La negación de los verbos modales también puede emplearse con contracción:

ü  Cannot                                                = can't                                  My mother can’t play the guitar.

ü  Could not                           = couldn't                           The bus couldn’t arrive early.

ü  Should not                         = shouldn’t        You shouldn’t smoke.

ü  Must not                            = mustn't                            We mustn’t copy our classmates’ homework.

ü  Would not                         = wouldn´t                         The book wouldn’t be interesting.

ü  May not                              à no se usa con contracción.

ü  Might not                           à no se usa con contracción.
